DIE CASTING PROCESS

  • Die casting is a century old process of injecting molten metal into a steel die under high pressure.
  • The metal, either aluminium, zinc or magnesium, is held under pressure until it solidifies into a net shape metal part.
  • No other metal casting process allows for a greater variety of shapes, intricacy of design or closer dimensional tolerance.
  • The process has been called The shortest distance between raw material and finished product.
  • The plant is devided into six main areas.
  • Melting:
Liquid aluminium to be produced through ingots.
  • Casting:
Liquid metal to be shot in die casting dies to produce specific products.
  • Finishing:
The cast piece to be given a pre-finish hand de-burring operation and finally shot blasted.
  • Machining:
Die casting components are machined, assembled and tested as required.
  • Assembly:
Components are fully assembled and complete system despatched to customer.
  • Testing:
Components are tested (torque, leaktest, etc) as per customer requirements.
  • Operations managed to Q1 requirements.
